The Aberdeen Town Board on Sept. 22 unanimously approved a 10‑year Comprehensive Parks & Recreation Systemwide Plan after a public hearing, with Parks & Recreation Director Adam Crocker describing the document as the department’s roadmap.
"This plan is the roadmap for this department and includes a great deal of information to help guide the direction of the department," Crocker told the board during the hearing. With no further discussion, Mayor Robert A. Farrell closed the public hearing and the board voted to approve the plan.
Town staff said the plan is intended to guide project prioritization, capital investments, and budget requests for parks and recreation over the next decade. The plan approval was a recorded motion and passed 4‑0; Mayor Pro‑tem Bryan Bowles was not in attendance.
Next steps identified by staff include incorporating the plan’s priorities into the department’s capital improvement planning and annual budgeting cycle. The plan approval does not itself appropriate funds; project funding and scheduling will be decided in future budget and project‑specific approvals.
