Everton town board corrects advisory appointments, schedules two UDO hearings and accepts annexation petition

At a Jan. 13, 2025 work session, the Everton town board moved to correct two advisory-board appointment motions, schedule public hearings on two staff-initiated unified development ordinance (UDO) text amendments and accept a volunteer annexation petition for investigation.
Staff member Miss Grant told the board she had clerical errors in last month’s appointment motions: Historic Preservation Commission terms are four years, not two, and Anne Parker’s partial term on the Appearance and Beautification Commission had been omitted. Committee member (speaker 3) moved to appoint Alexis Taylor to a four-year term on the Historic Preservation Commission ending in January 2029 and to appoint Anne Parker to the Appearance and Beautification Commission for the remainder of a partial term ending January 2026; the motion carried.
Miss Grant also asked the board to schedule two staff-initiated text amendments for public hearings on Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. The first, TA24-06, concerns subdivision standards staff said are hindering property use. The second, TA24-07, would amend the violations chapter and civil-penalty procedures; staff said both items received planning-board recommendations for approval. The board voted to schedule both hearings.
On annexation, the board accepted a volunteer petition filed by Old Village Enterprises LLC for 39.46 acres east of PD Road (PID 00056777). The board voted to direct the clerk to investigate the sufficiency of annexation petition 25-01; staff said the item will likely return to the board in February if it proceeds successfully through the planning-board process.
Actions taken at the meeting were procedural and preparatory: corrections to appointments, scheduling public hearings, formal acceptance of an annexation petition and direction to the clerk to investigate. The board adjourned the open meeting later in the evening to convene a closed session on personnel matters.
