She urged the council to consult city attorneys as new statutory language is assessed.
Polsky reviewed the proposed state budget (which she described as approximately $117 billion at the time of the briefing) and listed local appropriations she and colleagues secured: $300,000 for Jeffrey Street seawall replacement, $175,000 for HAB Center, $200,000 for Project Uplift Roots and Wings elementary literacy initiative, $750,000 for drinking‑water transmission and distribution improvements, $500,000 for a Spanish River / El Rio underpass, and $1,000,000 for South Florida Fairgrounds emergency‑shelter improvements.
Council members thanked the senators for protecting home rule where possible and for returning appropriations to Boca Raton programs. Staff cautioned the council that state preemption of EV parking/charging takes effect July 1 and that staff will review implications for current and future site‑plan approvals.
