Cloud County sheriff reports fire-suppression repair and limited KDOC inmate housing due to state budget

Sheriff Ken Davis and Jail Administrator Matt Nevins reported to the Cloud County Board of Commissioners on May 6 that Johnson Controls had completed and passed the jail’s fire-suppression system after one minor repair.
Davis and Nevins said the county is accepting KDOC inmates only in limited numbers because of budget constraints at the state level. They also reported the county received $6,900 as a competency reimbursement. Commissioner Michael Cleveland said he had spoken with Mark Budreau about concrete pad repairs at the facility and that the work is expected in June.
The board recorded the update in the official minutes and approved short executive sessions elsewhere on the agenda to discuss personnel matters related to operations. No further facility closures or disruptions were announced during the meeting.
