Town staff updated the Energy Commission that work at the Chobock Road solar facility is progressing and the long‑lead component that had delayed activation — the transformer — has arrived.
Assistant Town Manager Jean Walker showed photos of the array and the newly placed transformer and explained that contractor work on conduit, fencing and jersey barriers is complete. Final building inspection is scheduled and the town, Revision Energy and electrical contractors will hire testing companies to certify the installation.
Walker said those test results will be submitted to Eversource, which must verify interconnection; she noted Eversource’s internal process will likely take a minimum of eight weeks from submission of final test documents, so commissioning and a public ribbon‑cutting are expected in the spring, likely April when site restoration (seeded grass) looks presentable.
Commissioners discussed safety measures (fencing, jersey barriers) and timing; Walker said the town had anticipated the schedule and that the transformer had been the key lead item. No formal votes were taken; the briefing was informational and commissioners agreed to continue monitoring commissioning milestones ahead of activation.
