The Bedford Town Council on Feb. 11 ratified a multi-year competitively bid contract with Continental Paving Inc. of Londonderry for road reconstruction and surfacing work in the 2026–2027 seasons, subject to available funding. Public Works recommended the award after a December 2025 bid process that produced two bidders.
Public Works Director Brian DeFosse said the contract is written to allow the department to assign specific work under the awarded contract based on the final budget each year. He said Tinker Road reconstruction is the top priority and will proceed regardless of final budget, with Liberty Hill Road approaches and other priority streets (Camelot Drive, Seton Drive, West Road, Tiffany Lane, White Ave) included if funds allow. Contingent or tertiary priorities would be scheduled if voter-approved funding and available resources permit.
A council motion to award (moved by Councilor Strand; second by Councilor Sowell) passed 7–0, and the council authorized the town manager to execute the contract. Public Works said the department will coordinate staging and scheduling with the contractor and will proceed according to the town's budgeting decisions.
