Chief Chase presented a revised mission statement and core values for the Aberdeen Police Department at the Sept. 22 meeting and the board voted to adopt them.
Chief Chase said he solicited input from all four shifts and the investigative division and worked with command staff to draft the statement. The approved mission reads in part that the Aberdeen Police Department "is committed to serving the community with excellence and integrity" and that the department will be guided by Service, Motivation, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork (SMART).
"We are dedicated to building trust through compassionate service," Chief Chase said, summarizing the statement the department will post. The chief said the department will publish the mission on the town website and display it in the police department.
The board moved and voted to adopt the mission statement; no dissenting comments were recorded.
