Board adopts 10‑year Parks & Recreation plan after public hearing; final copy to be posted online

The Aberdeen Board voted Sept. 22 to adopt a 10‑year comprehensive parks and recreation plan presented by Parks & Recreation Director Crocker.
Crocker described the plan as the department’s roadmap for facilities, programming, staffing and budgeting for the next decade and said it incorporates statistically valid surveys and public input. "What we're looking for is approval of that plan," he said, noting the plan will be finalized with page numbers and a posted final copy once any edits are made.
The board opened the public hearing, allowed for comment (none substantive was recorded), closed the hearing and then approved the plan by motion. Staff said paper copies and an online link will be available at the Parks & Rec building and on the town website.
Crocker also noted near‑term park work items: the wooden bridge at Lake Park has been closed repeatedly and will need repair or replacement after storm damage; the new pickleball court surfacing is expected to receive asphalt this week, weather permitting.
