The Aberdeen Board opened separate public hearings on Sept. 22 for a voluntary annexation (AN 2502) and a zoning map amendment (ZA 2503) for a property of roughly 35-plus acres. The applicant’s representative asked the board to continue both hearings to the Oct. 27 meeting.
Staff counsel recommended opening the hearings and then formally continuing them to a date certain so the legal advertisement for tonight’s meeting carries through to the next scheduled hearing. "We'd like to open the hearing officially so that... and you're gonna continue to a date certain, which is October 27," the applicant representative said.
A motion to continue the annexation hearing to Oct. 27 carried after a second; the board repeated the same procedure and voted to continue the zoning map amendment hearing to Oct. 27 as well. The board closed both public hearings after the votes.
No substantive testimony or public comment on the merits of the annexation or rezoning was recorded at the meeting; the continuances preserve the applicant’s right to appear on Oct. 27 with notice already in the meeting advertisement.
