Board adopts ordinance to close Sycamore Street for Third Thursday Summer Music series

The Aberdeen Board of Commissioners on April 14 adopted an ordinance authorizing temporary closure of South Sycamore Street from Main Street to South Street for the Third Thursday Summer Music Event Series on June 19, July 17, August 21 and September 18, 2025 between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.
The ordinance states event organizers—the Downtown Aberdeen Advisory Board—must comply with Town of Aberdeen General Regulations §96 and will be responsible for returning the site to its prior condition. The ordinance says the closure will be effective when street‑closure barricades are erected and noticed.
The motion to approve the consent agenda including the ordinance was made by Mayor Pro‑tem Bryan Bowles and seconded by Commissioner Wilma Laney; the vote was unanimous, 5–0.
What happens next: event organizers will coordinate logistics and comply with permitting and traffic control requirements in §96 of the town code.
