Bob Tucker, Randy Nobles and Mitchell Fogle each addressed the council seeking reappointment to the Boca Raton Airport Authority. Tucker said the airport is an important economic asset and described an observation-deck project planned for late summer.
"It is an economic generator of about $700,000,000 and supports, roughly 5,000 jobs," Tucker said when discussing the airport's role in the local economy.
Separately, Charles Graves applied for the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, emphasized more than 40 years of planning experience and urged the committee to actively address zoning, financing and mixed-income approaches rather than serve as a perfunctory advisory body. Several residents in public comment (including Marie Hester and Angela McDonald) urged the council to appoint Graves.
Council members said all board appointments will be made at the regular council meeting tomorrow.
No formal appointments were made during the workshop.
