Public Works Director Mike Casper presented two vendor quotes — Big B Equipment, $31,950 (in stock), and AG Equipment, $33,250 (would need to be ordered) — and said the county's existing boom mower has exceeded its expected service life. Commissioner Tracy Killian moved to buy the machine from Big B; Commissioners Jeff Chugg and Greg Miles seconded and voted aye, and the motion passed.
Casper said recent roadside chip sealing work in Fruitland, Duchesne and Roosevelt is complete and that the department will purchase chips to finish remaining chipping projects. He also noted localized flooding in Avintaquin Canyon (County Road 16) that will require a grader, discussed planned salt‑hauling bids with Jones & DeMille Engineering, and said two public‑works positions are open and accepting applications.
The purchase authorizes procurement from a local vendor and clears the way for the department to replace the worn unit and continue scheduled road maintenance.
