Aberdeen reports revenue and expenditure totals, library group wins $100,000 Cannon Foundation grant

At the March 24 meeting the Aberdeen Town Board received its monthly financial report and an update on library fundraising.
Finance Director Butch Watson summarized fiscal-year-to-date figures through Feb. 28, 2025, reporting combined General and Water & Sewer revenues at roughly 76.12% of budget and combined expenditures at about 59.35% of budget. Watson highlighted line items including Moore County real and personal property tax collections at 100.72% of budget, building permit revenue at 117.32% of budget, Powell Bill revenue at 126.89% of budget, and other variances across utilities and sales tax collections.
Town Manager Paul Sabiston told the board staff are working on next year’s budget and hope to present a draft at the next meeting; he reported the library group had secured another $100,000 grant from the Cannon Foundation and that $170,000 is available in the Town’s budget for the new library project.
No formal budget ordinance or appropriation was adopted at the meeting; staff indicated they are still awaiting additional numbers before submitting a draft FY 2025‑26 budget to the board.
