DAAB recommends expanded Downtown Social District hours and small boundary change; Board to consider on Nov. 24
Summary
The Downtown Aberdeen Advisory Board recommended expanding Social District hours to Monday–Wednesday 11 a.m.–11 p.m., maintaining Sunday 1–9 p.m., and adding 202–206 E. Main Street to the boundary. Town staff said hours changes require a UDO amendment; the Board did not act and will consider the item again.

Members of the Downtown Aberdeen Advisory Board unanimously recommended at their Oct. 28 meeting that the Town Board expand the downtown Social District to include Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., retain current Sunday hours of 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and amend the boundary to add 202, 204 and 206 E. Main Street.
Planner Lindy Lamielle summarized the DAAB recommendation for the Town Board on Nov. 10 and Director Pam Graham advised that changing Social District hours would require an amendment to the UDO. The Board did not vote on the Social District at the Nov. 10 work session; the matter will return for further action and any required ordinance changes.
If adopted, the expanded hours and added parcels would permit Social District activity (as defined under the town’s existing Social District program) on the additional days and properties subject to final ordinance language and any conditions the Board sets at public hearing.
