Cloud County approves $137,909 mowing tractor for highway maintenance; accepts low bids on Ride On project

The Cloud County Board of Commissioners voted July 29 to buy a New Holland mowing tractor from KanEquip for $137,909.47 to support road maintenance operations. The motion to approve the purchase was made by Commissioner Michael Cleveland and seconded by Commissioner Ron Copple; the vote was unanimous.
Rod Michaud, Highway Administrator, told the board that Noble Road was finished that day and crews are working on the approach to the River Bridge in Glasco. Michaud reported the county purchased the mowing tractor to assist routine maintenance and mowing activities.
The board also considered price quotes and grant-reimbursement rules presented by Carol Torkelson of the North Central Regional Planning Commission concerning a CVR project. Following that presentation, the board accepted the low bids for the business identified in the record as “Ride on” on a motion by Commissioner Copple, seconded by Commissioner Cleveland, by unanimous vote.
Mike Hake, Solid Waste Director, reported separately that new overhead recycling doors are planned for the county facility and that the county trailer has returned with a repaired tarp. No additional appropriations for the solid waste items were recorded in the meeting minutes.
The board’s approvals were recorded in the official minutes and will be reflected in the county procurement and maintenance schedules. The board adjourned at 10:47 a.m.; its next regular meeting was scheduled for Aug. 5, 2024.
