Cloud County commissioners approve personnel pay change, advisory-board appointments and IRS mileage rates

The Cloud County Board of Commissioners on July 8 approved a series of routine administrative actions, including a personnel wage increase, advisory-board confirmations and adoption of Internal Revenue Service mileage rates.
On a motion by Commissioner Ron Copple, seconded by Commissioner Michael Cleveland, the board unanimously approved raising employee Ayla Collins’ wage from $16.00 to $16.80, effective July 15, 2024, following the end of her probationary period. The motion was recorded as passed 3–0 (Chairman Gary Caspers, Commissioner Cleveland and Commissioner Copple voting yes).
Commissioner Michael Cleveland moved and Commissioner Copple seconded approval of Resolution 2024-12, which confirms members of the 12th Judicial District Juvenile/Community Corrections Advisory Board for terms July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2026. Appointees named in the resolution include Brandi Hake (Court Services), Chuck Lambertz (City of Concordia), Jennifer O’Hare (Lincoln County), Jenny Parker (Social Services), Anthony Perez (Mitchell County sheriff), Katie Schroeder (defense attorney), Gary Caspers (Cloud County commissioner) and Ed Duskie (Jewell County commissioner). The motion passed unanimously.
The board adopted the Internal Revenue Service’s standard mileage rates effective July 1, 2024: $0.67 per mile for privately owned automobiles, $0.65 per mile for motorcycles, $1.76 per mile for airplanes and $0.21 per mile for moving mileage. That motion passed on a unanimous vote.
The board also approved payroll expenses totaling $183,446.41 and payroll deductions and benefits totaling $76,061.03; the agenda lists line-item totals by fund. The clerk said detailed expense records are available at the County Clerk’s office and on the clerk’s public records webpage.
The board approved the July 1, 2024 minutes and adjourned at 12:02 p.m.; the next regular meeting was set for July 15, 2024.
