Tama County Board approves claims and routine permits; discusses safety assessment, AED batteries and facility repairs

Earlier, the Board approved utility permits recommended by Interim County Engineer Nick Amelon. Motion by Curt Hilmer, seconded by David Turner, authorized the chairman to sign the permits; the minutes record the motion passed with unanimous support but do not list individual departmental conditions or permit fees.
In new business, Supervisor Curt Kupka reported the landfill’s automated external defibrillator (AED) battery needs replacement and recommended all departments check AED batteries and use their department budgets to pay for replacements. Supervisor David Turner urged that future contracts first be brought to the Board before signing, said he is soliciting bids for printers and copiers, and reported that the new IT technician will begin using NinjaOne for ticketing and that bids for Admin Building air-conditioning repairs were received with Hardon Electric selected to perform the repairs. Supervisor Heather Knebel said the Board should have received an email about a safety assessment performed by Heartland Risk Pool and that the assessment generated requests for policies.
The minutes indicate public comment was heard from Gerald Husak, but they do not record the content of his remarks. The meeting adjourned at 9:04 a.m.
