Historic district commission approves rear addition at 45 North Amherst Road

The Bedford Historic District Commission on Feb. 3 approved a certificate of approval for a 26-by-18-foot rear addition at 45 North Amherst Road.
Mark Tessier, the applicant, told the commission the addition will replace an existing deck and “use the same materials as the house, the same siding … same windows, same roofing materials,” and will not be visible from the road. Neighbors who spoke at the public hearing supported the project; Andy Noyce said the right-of-way next to the property is lawn and that he “fully support[s]” the proposal, and others described the applicant’s prior work as well executed.
A commissioner moved to approve the application, finding it consistent with the historic district ordinance and commission regulations. The approval was subject to three conditions: the applicant must obtain a building permit and pay permit fees, complete the work within two years of the commission’s approval, and submit photographs of the completed work for the commission’s file. The motion carried; the minutes record the vote as 5–0 in favor.
The commission thanked the applicants for consulting neighbors and invited them to submit photos of prior work to the record. The commission moved on to other agenda items afterward.
