At its Dec. 8 meeting the Town of Aberdeen Board of Commissioners took several formal votes and procedural actions.
Consent agenda and resolutions: The board approved the consent agenda by a single motion. Consent items included: • Resolution 25‑25 — release partial surety for infrastructure improvements for Sandy Springs phases 3B and 4C in the amount of $142,294.02 (approved). • Resolution 25‑26 — release partial surety for Martin Farms Phase 1 8.1 in the amount of $119,875; staff and the applicant requested an effective date change to Dec. 22, 2025 (approved as amended). • Resolution 25‑27 — accept a performance guarantee for infrastructure improvements for Montrose in the amount of $329,701.88 with effective date Dec. 22, 2025 (approved).
Policy and schedule votes: The board approved the 2026 meeting schedule (second and fourth Mondays) and the FY2026–27 budget calendar and retreat dates by voice votes.
Appointments: The board approved a slate of reappointments and new appointments for volunteer boards (planning board, board of adjustment, historic preservation commission, appearance and beautification, parks and recreation). The board also nominated and approved a mayor pro tem and administered an oath.
Downtown social district ordinance: The board adopted amendments to the downtown social district operating days and times (adds Monday–Wednesday; Mon–Sat 11 a.m.–11 p.m.; Sunday 1 p.m.–9 p.m.) and set an effective date of Jan. 19, 2026, subject to signage updates and administrative filings with the ABC Commission.
Zoning hearing action: After a lengthy staff presentation and public comment the board voted to suspend and reschedule the public hearing on proposed UDO text amendment ZA‑2507 (Highway 5 overlay) to the January general meeting to allow staff to meet with affected landowners.
Adjournment: The board adjourned at the close of the meeting.
