Erica, speaking for finance and referencing recent department-head discussion, said department heads generally supported quarterly reviews and recommended monthly reviews only in the final quarter when expenditures tend to concentrate. "I think the consensus among department heads was that quarterly and then monthly in the last quarter" was the preferred approach, she said.
Commissioner Waltz moved to adopt the schedule; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Commissioners said the schedule balances oversight with avoiding unnecessary workload for department staff.
The commission did not alter department budgets at the meeting; the action formalizes review frequency only. No dollar amounts or specific reporting templates were adopted during the discussion.
