Housing authority commissioner reads public notice, says policy limits commissioners and warns of enforcement

Angela McDonald, who identified herself as a resident commissioner of the Boca Raton Housing Authority, told the council on March 23 that she was placing on the public record a formal notice opposing a policy the Housing Authority board adopted on Jan. 28 that she says restricts individual commissioners from requesting information from the executive director.
"My dissenting vote on January 28 is no different. I'm still against the policy," McDonald said. She said the board adopted the policy in a 6-to-1 vote and that her vote was the lone dissent. McDonald said a motion had been made several months earlier to remove her from the board and that she wanted to ensure the record reflected her concerns and the possibility that the majority that adopted the policy might seek to enforce it against her.
Mayor Singer cut off further remarks after McDonald exceeded her allotted time and said he appreciated her concerns but advised that email or another forum might be a more appropriate venue for extended detail. No formal action or response was taken by the council during the workshop on McDonald's statements.
McDonald said she was not filing a complaint or grievance at the time but wanted to ensure the record documented her position and the policy's adoption for future reference.
