Park County commissioners approve staffing action, planning-board appointments and reappoint Paul Lyman

Maritza, speaking for airport staff, told commissioners the position duties were approved by the airport board and that the job grade had been updated from a 2014 draft; the position will be part-time and funded through the airport board budget. Commissioners agreed the position is necessary to track landing fees, leases and other airport administration tasks. Commissioner Vermillion moved to post and hire for the airport administrative assistant; Commissioner Story seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The commission then considered planning board appointments. The board approved Mark Roberts, Kent Hanawalt and Kathy Foote for terms beginning Feb. 2026. Commissioners praised the candidates' commitment to community service and unanimously approved the appointments.
For the joint airport board, a public commenter recounted that Paul Lyman "has served on the airport board for multiple terms" and has institutional knowledge about landing fees and leases. Commissioners noted the airport board had voted (anonymously) in favor and then moved to reappoint Lyman to the county seat on the joint airport board; the motion passed unanimously.
