She said the industry generates about $56,000,000 in economic activity and supports more than 800 full- and part-time jobs.
Mills promoted the Maine Maple Producers Association’s list of participating sugar houses at mainmapleproducers.com and urged shoppers to buy Maine-produced maple syrup. She noted that since 2015 maple syrup has been Maine’s official state sweetener and closed by inviting listeners to local sugar houses during Maine Maple Sunday.
