The Greenville City Council on March 17 unanimously approved a temporary food truck permit for Chris Petersen of Chef’s Hand Specialties to operate at 1205 W. Washington (the Public Warehouse Lot) from April 15 through Nov. 15, 2026.
Councilperson Johnson moved to approve the application with conditions that the food truck not impede traffic to or from adjacent properties or businesses, comply with all health-department rules and regulations, pay the city food vendor license fee, and suspend operation during the Danish Festival (Aug. 21–23). Councilperson Barrus seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The conditions also specify the permit’s authorized dates and that the operation must not adversely impact neighboring businesses, reflecting staff advice and the council’s standard permit safeguards.
A member of the public, Jeff Hines of 109 N. Bower Street, addressed the council during the Statement of Citizens and asked about discrepancies he perceived in how food-truck permits are approved. Hines also said he protested having his name or address stated on the record. Council did not take additional action in response to his questions at the meeting.
The approval implements a single-site, time-limited permit; any enforcement or health-department follow-up would be handled by the city and county public-health authorities as required.
