Rosebud County commissioners accepted the resignation of Public Health Director Shelley Schnitzmeyer and approved several administrative items during their weekly business meeting, which began at 10 a.m.
The departure of Schnitzmeyer was presented to the board as a letter of resignation that commissioners characterized as more of a retirement. One commissioner said she began working with the county about 17 years ago. The board moved to accept the letter and voted to approve the resignation.
In other business, commissioners approved an interagency memorandum of understanding with the Eastern Montana Drug Task Force for fiscal year 2026. Chair (S1) described the item as "pretty straightforward"; the motion to approve passed.
The board also passed Resolution 12‑40, directing the county treasurer to issue tax deeds on properties where the county is the purchaser and no assignment has been made and taxes had not been paid prior to issuance of the tax deed. During discussion, one commissioner questioned the timeline for delinquency (referencing "three or four years"), and another noted the county has begun posting delinquent-tax listings on its website. Commissioners said they would follow legal procedures in tax-deed actions.
Finally, the commissioners approved a Department of Health and Human Services data‑sharing agreement between the Northern Cheyenne health provider named in the meeting and Rosebud County Public Health. A motion and second were made and the agreement was approved by vote.
