Representatives of the local food pantry told Rosebud County commissioners on Aug. 19 that they are exploring a move to a building at the corner of 11th and May and asked for help assessing whether the site would meet their needs.
Charlie, speaking for the pantry, said the space would likely require shelving and assistance to move heavy freezers. Volunteers and commissioners discussed stairs, ramps and access for delivery trucks; a pantry volunteer said the new location would be better for food trucks and noted staff and volunteers would help with the move if county resources could assist.
The commissioners said they would arrange a site tour with pantry leaders and county staff, and that the pantry should place the item on its agenda if it wanted the board to take official action. The discussion was informational only and no vote or commitment of county funds was made at the meeting.
What happens next: County staff and pantry representatives will coordinate a tour of the proposed site; any formal request for county assistance or rental terms will be considered at a future meeting.
