AFSCME representative urges board to increase engagement and transparency

Kron described AFSCME Local 2048 as representing transportation, food service, custodial, security and logistics staff and said the union wants a collaborative relationship with district leadership. "Our union is not the problem. However, we are a vital part of the solution," Kron said, and he urged the board to provide a seat at the table when decisions affecting those departments are made (speaker 6).
Rosa Rios (speaker 2) had explained the public forum protocols earlier in the meeting, including time limits and the requirement to state name and address for speakers; the board did not engage in discussion with the public commenter during the meeting, per the stated protocol.
The union representative said he welcomes additional dialogue with the board and superintendent to increase collaboration and ensure union members' voices are heard.
