Fulton County accepts $230,699.51 State Interconnectivity Grant for NG911 maintenance and hires per-diem dispatcher

Fulton County Commissioners approved a State Interconnectivity Grant totaling $230,699.51 to support multiple emergency communications maintenance projects and approved a per-diem hire for 911 operations.
EMA/911 Director Brian Barton presented the grant request. Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to approve the grant, which the board accepted unanimously. The grant is earmarked for SouthCentral Mountain CAD maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain CHE maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain ESInet maintenance, Fulton NG911 GIS maintenance, a SouthCentral Mountain battery upgrade, and Fulton ILEC maintenance.
Separately, Commissioner Hervey P. Hann moved to hire Troy Wagaman for the position of Per Diem 911 Dispatcher, effective pending required background checks and clearances; that motion carried. The board held a brief Salary Board meeting to set Wagaman’s salary and then moved into an executive session for personnel matters.
The grant provides dedicated funds for infrastructure and maintenance that support emergency call-taking and dispatch services; the county will follow grant requirements and continue staffing actions as needed for operations.
