Commissioners OK BFJRA charter amendments, authorize police appointment power and name new board member

Representatives of the Bedford Fulton Joint Recreational Authority — Matthew Wakefield, Paul Johnston and Eric Weisbrod — asked the Fulton County Commissioners to approve two amendments to the authority’s articles of incorporation. Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to adopt both measures and the board voted unanimously to approve them.
Resolution 9 of 2025 authorizes an amendment to increase the number of members on the BFJRA board. Resolution 10 of 2025 authorizes an amendment to permit the Bedford Fulton Joint Recreational Authority to appoint police officers who would have the same rights as other police officers in the Commonwealth with respect to authority property. Both resolutions include language authorizing the authority and its officers to execute and file necessary articles of amendment.
Commissioner Wible also moved to appoint Craig Cutchall to a one-year term on the BFJRA, with the term expiring January 3, 2027; that motion carried unanimously.
The actions change the BFJRA’s governance structure and add authority to appoint law-enforcement personnel for matters relating to authority property, subject to compliance with applicable Commonwealth requirements.
