Brooklyn Park welcomes new staff and proclaims March 2026 Women’s History Month

Brooklyn Park’s City Council on Tuesday introduced new staff across departments and issued a proclamation recognizing March 2026 as Women’s History Month.
City staff introduced Kur Vang as a new property maintenance inspector and Eric Garcia as a program assistant in Community Development. Recreation & Parks Director Brad Talberg introduced Troy Parker Jr. (teen tech center coordinator), Joy Arneson (program assistant, Community Activity Center), and Tyrell Ross (building maintenance worker at Zainewood Recreation Center). Councilmembers welcomed each new employee.
Councilmember Shelley Page presented a proclamation honoring Women’s History Month and introduced Charice Turner, a resident of more than 25 years who serves as chief program officer at Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity and was recognized for her community leadership. Turner told the council she is "a proud Brooklyn Park resident" and said, "I ain't going nowhere. I love it here." Mayor Winston said he would sign the proclamation and arrange photos with the Turner family.
The council thanked volunteers and staff before moving on to business.
