Commission renews multiple liquor licenses after discussing optional compliance checks

Hutchison described the checks as an optional grant-funded program that recruits an 18- or 19-year-old buyer while an officer observes how establishments verify identification. He emphasized the program is not mandated by state law nor is it required to renew a liquor license. Commissioners requested additional information—such as incident reports and call-outs to the listed establishments—for future renewal cycles.
The board voted to renew a long list of licenses covering establishments across the county. Commissioners Larry Allen, Michael Jones, Jennifer Wilson and Ron Fabrizius voted in favor; Commissioner Clarence Thomas voted against. The motion carried.
