Planning Board urges public input as Comprehensive Plan moves toward review

At the Jan. 20 meeting the Bedford Planning Board reviewed recent public outreach for the town’s Comprehensive Plan. Chair Steven Hagan reported on a Jan. 9 Open House and Board members said the written public comments collected on sticky notes had not yet been analyzed.
Board member Dawn LaFrance-Linden said the outreach appears to be reaching a wider audience and encouraged residents to use social media to raise awareness; staff were asked to explore a banner for the Town website and physical signage. Assistant Planner Catherine Perry said she had commented on the first draft of the Existing Conditions Report but was not sure whether it had been fully revised.
The Board noted that the Planning Board will be the body that approves the Plan and that the public should engage now. Staff said the Board may be asked at a future Town Meeting to accept or receive the final Plan.
