Garfield County commissioners approve nearly $1 million in ARPA allocations for courthouse, detention and public works projects

The resolutions authorize ARPA spending for items including two message boards ($1,878.10), renovation furnishings for the Garfield County Detention Facility ($17,363.00), repairs to the courthouse clock tower ($5,500.00), architectural fees for a district attorney office ($24,953.88) and third‑floor courthouse renovation ($9,448.96). The board also approved vehicle and equipment expenditures, including an assessor vehicle ($29,824.00) and upfitting six new units for the sheriff’s department ($104,000.00).
The board approved a $433,680 guaranteed maximum price for an awning at the Garfield County Health Department and a $120,000 flooring replacement at the Garfield County Courthouse. Other ARPA items approved included courthouse handrails ($40,000.00), stipends for the county detention facility ($80,000.00), and various flooring and tile projects across county buildings. The Board additionally approved a Cash Fund Estimate of Needs and Request for Appropriation for ARPA 21 in the amount of $13,938.13.
Commissioners voted to approve the resolutions and appropriations by recorded unanimous voice votes (Aye: Wedel, Maly and Kegin). The meeting also approved warrant payments listed under the ARPA fund, which included larger disbursements recorded in the warrants table (for example, $500,000 to the Garfield County Fairground Trust Authority and $500,000 to the Garfield County Criminal Justice Authority as shown in the warrants list).
