During the public comment period of the Dec. 17 meeting, resident Donna Kriegseis addressed the board about governance and transparency concerns.
Kriegseis said she believes the board has been "defiant about policies," which she linked to employee grievances, an apparent drop in enrollment, and growing local homeschool support groups. She told the board that her Freedom of Information Act requests have been returned with responses stating "no documents responsive to your request," and she reviewed prior board discussions related to tri-conference hotel costs.
Kriegseis said she is a former student in District 111 and urged the board to ensure all students receive a good education.
Board members did not take formal action in response to the comment but recorded the statement in the minutes. The business office and district administration may provide follow-up responses to FOIA or governance questions through staff channels as appropriate.
