District schools mostly 'Commendable'; Burbank School flagged 'Targeted' for a subgroup; Liberty JH athletic code adopted

Assistant Superintendent for Teaching & Learning Kristin Welsh briefed the board on the Illinois School Report Card results. She said all district schools were rated "Commendable" this year except Burbank School, where a subgroup of students was designated "Targeted." Welsh said appointments have been set with state officials to address improvement for the affected students with disabilities subgroup.
Separately, Member Jessica Thomas moved and Member John Schuetz seconded adoption of the Liberty Junior High School Athletic Code on second reading. The board voted by roll call in favor of adoption with all members present voting yes.
Why it matters: The school report card designations guide state support and local improvement planning; the district plans meetings with state representatives to address the targeted subgroup. Adopting an athletic code sets behavioral and eligibility expectations for junior-high athletics.
