Burbank SD 111 honors spelling bee champion and City sticker contest winner

At its Jan. 28 meeting, the Board of Education of Burbank School District No. 111 recognized student achievements across the district.
Michaela Faust announced winners of the district's 43rd Annual Spelling Bee, awarding STAR recognition pins to champions from each school. Kirsten Cerdenia, a seventh-grader at Liberty Junior High, won the district championship and will represent District 111 at the South Cook ISC Regional Spelling Bee on March 5. Principals and staff were acknowledged for supporting the event.
Assistant Superintendent Kristin Welsh presented the winner of the City of Burbank Vehicle Sticker Design Contest: John Schuetz, a fifth-grade student at Burbank School. The winning design was displayed at the meeting and Welsh noted the student was honored at the City Council meeting on Jan. 27.
Band and choir news also featured on the agenda: Member Thomas Jansen noted a winter party scheduled for Feb. 5 and that the Liberty choir was invited to sing before the Chicago Wolves game on March 8.
