KHS robotics demonstrates robot; district updates include musical, wellness program and wrestling milestone

Members of the KHS Robotics team gave the Board a demonstration of this year’s competition robot during the Jan. 20 meeting of the Kewanee CUSD 229 Board.
"Since September they have put approximately 100 hours into building and preparing for the competitions," said coach Mr. Toutant, describing the team’s work. He told the Board there are three meets and a tournament that can advance teams to State, Nationals and World competitions.
KHS Principal Mrs. Tidwell told the Board that the spring musical 'Once Upon a Mattress' was presented to elementary, junior‑high and high‑school students and praised the cast and crew. She also reported postseason winter‑sports assignments and noted that Kingston Peterson achieved his 100th career varsity wrestling victory.
Belle Principal Mrs. Douglas described the 'Move It Monday' districtwide wellness and social‑emotional learning initiative, which began at Belle and will expand across the District in second semester. The Board received these program and activity updates as part of the administration’s reports.
