At its meeting, the Platteville School District board approved a standard consent agenda that included prior meeting minutes, a planned Belize trip for students in 2027, multiple resignations and donations to the district totaling more than $18,000.
Administration asked the board to accept the resignation of Alexa Harding from a sixth-grade special education position; the board approved the resignation. The board also approved hiring Samuel Ewart as a high school/middle school orchestra teacher for the 2025–26 school year and hiring Jennifer Soderbloom (promoted from high school paraprofessional) as a middle school special education teacher for 2025–26.
The board approved a lease/purchase of a maintenance vehicle (a 2025 Ford Ranger) as the district continues a multi-year plan to maintain operations and facilities. Separately, the board approved second and final readings of policies tied to Act 20, including 341.1 Reading Instructional Goals and related literacy plan checklist items; a committee member urged the board to go beyond mere compliance to raise literacy outcomes above minimal thresholds.
All motions described in the meeting were moved, seconded and carried as presented; the meeting adjourned at 7:47 p.m.
