Dan Hecht of Environmental Services updated the Board on Clearwater County’s participation in a regional Residential Food Waste Program funded in part by a Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) grant to Polk County. He said promotional work is underway and that kitchen composting bags are being distributed at Galen’s Fresh Foods in Bagley; Polk County’s MPCA grant covers the startup supply for Bagley and Clearwater County’s contribution is recorded as in-kind support to the grant.
Hecht also said a local program-specific video is being produced and will be viewable online. The minutes state that information about how to purchase additional composting bags will be provided to residents. The Board did not take additional action on the program during the March 10 meeting.
