Community Preservation Committee presents FY27 CPA priorities, highlights historic preservation and open space

Community Preservation Committee Chair Erin Dorr and Assistant Town Manager Amy Fidalgo presented the FY27 Community Preservation Act (CPA) budget to the Select Board on Feb. 9, emphasizing the town’s ongoing priorities: historic preservation, open-space acquisition, affordable housing, and recreation and pedestrian/bicycle infrastructure.
Dorr said Bedford residents have consistently prioritized preserving the town’s character, and that CPA-funded projects since the act’s 2001 adoption have reflected those community values. Fidalgo and Dorr highlighted potential FY27 investments including athletic field fencing rehabilitation, library preservation work, the Town Common renovations, trails bog-bridge repairs and other items listed in the committee’s six-year plan and FY27 application list.
Board members asked about specific items in the packet, including proposed fencing on Page E-Field, Trails Committee funding, and a proposed Madi Lorde sculpture. Fidalgo and Dorr advised the Trails Committee is encouraged to apply for funds and that Housing and Economic Development staff could provide more information about the sculpture. The presentation accompanied material including the CPC Six Year Plan spreadsheet and the FY2027 CPA Budget.
