Facilities Director Ronald Scaltreto told the Depot Park Advisory Committee on May 19 that the town will put a contract out for bid in June to repaint the east and south sides of the historic depot. Chair Joseph Piantedosi suggested the bid scope consider a partial repaint of the north side of the Freight House as well.
The committee also noted spring cleanup work: the Green Team from Thermo Fisher Scientific is scheduled to assist with weed removal and grounds cleanup on June 20 as part of a volunteer work party. Committee members discussed items identified in a May 6 site inspection and referenced a follow‑up list dated May 18 outlining maintenance and masonry items requiring attention.
Why it matters: Timely exterior maintenance helps preserve the depot structure and supports public use of Depot Park. Volunteer cleanup reduces immediate grounds maintenance burdens and signals community involvement ahead of planned procurement.
No contract award or final bid package was recorded at the meeting; staff said the bid process would begin in June and additional scope details (including any work on the Freight House north side) would be considered during procurement.
