The Maple Grove City Council on Nov. 17 directed the city attorney to draft a resolution and a planned unit development (PUD) agreement for a proposed 3,380‑square‑foot Huntington National Bank with a drive‑through on a former AMC Theatre outlot.
City Planner Jesse Corrow told the council the bank use would occupy less area than a previously approved two‑restaurant concept and would generate an estimated 49% fewer daily vehicle trips than that prior proposal, easing traffic and parking demand in the area. The Planning Commission and staff said a bank was a better fit for the outlot and would improve circulation between adjacent parcels.
The council’s direction was conditional: the applicant must secure necessary easements from neighboring property owners, address outstanding Engineering Department and Fire Department comments dated Nov. 3 and Oct. 31, 2025, respectively, and acknowledge that park dedication requirements will be set following Park and Recreation Board review. The motion to direct the city attorney to draft the resolution and PUD agreement passed 5‑0 (mover: Mayor Mark Steffenson; second: Councilmember Rachelle Johnson).
Staff will return with a resolution and draft PUD agreement after the applicant demonstrates easement acquisition and resolves outstanding department comments.
