Clovis Unified board appoints two assistant superintendents, approves personnel and student discipline

Following closed session on Feb. 4 the Clovis Unified Governing Board announced a series of personnel actions and approvals.
The Board approved the appointment of Nicholas Mele, currently an administrator in Facility Services, to the position of Assistant Superintendent, Facility Services, effective July 1, 2026. The Board also approved the appointment of current Principal Joshua Shapiro, Ed.D., of Clovis North Educational Center to the position of Assistant Superintendent, Clovis North Area, effective July 1, 2026. Both appointments were announced as approved after closed session and recorded as passing 6‑0 (moved by Board Member Steven Fogg in the recorded motions, seconded where noted).
The Board additionally approved routine personnel matters with an amendment and approved student discipline matters related to Student 26‑07; those motions were recorded as passing 6‑0. The meeting minutes record Moved/Seconded information and the Ayes for each motion: Awtrey, Combs‑Flores, Fogg, Moore, Olivier and Tom Hashimoto; President Stoker Madsen was absent.
These personnel appointments carry effective dates in July 2026; the Board did not discuss terms of employment or contract details in the public session record beyond the effective dates noted. The approvals were announced as actions approved upon reconvening from closed session.
