Hardin County OKs purchase of three patrol Tahoes and a sheriff's pay-scale reclassification

The request authorized purchase of two 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe PPVs at $51,409 each (total $102,818) and one 2026 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV at $54,398; the purchases are to be funded from the Rural Law Enforcement Grant (SB22) and procured through Lake Country Chevrolet via the TIPS Cooperative Purchasing Program.
The court also approved a change to the LE‑15 Chief Deputy pay scale, reducing it from $85,234.00 to $83,866.00, and authorized reclassification of the Corrections Captain to Corrections Chief Deputy effective Feb. 15, 2026. The Sheriff described the change as needed to reflect additional job tasks that emerged after the start of the budget year; the court amended the FY26 budget to record the adjustments.
Both the vehicle purchases and the personnel changes were approved unanimously. The purchases are recorded to be funded from the Rural Law Enforcement Grant line item '034-560-574 Auto Purchases'; county staff will complete cooperative-purchase paperwork and follow procurement rules for delivery and payment.
The court's recorded motions show unanimous votes in favor by Judge Wayne McDaniel and Commissioners Kirkendall, Cooper, Young and Koch. No additional contingencies or separate procurement approvals were recorded in the minutes.
