Hardin County approves LaBiche amendment and change order for Hurricane Safe Room; hears flood-gauge briefing

At the Feb. 24 meeting, the Hardin County Commissioners Court authorized contract changes tied to the county’s Hurricane Safe Room project and received a presentation about a flood‑gauge initiative in the region.
Commissioner L. W. "Nubbin" Cooper Jr. moved to authorize the County Judge to sign an amendment to the professional services agreement with The LaBiche Architectural Group, Inc., related to Hurricane Safe Room Phase C; Commissioner Amanda Young seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. Separately, the court authorized the County Judge to sign Change Order No. 2 with N&T Construction for the same project; the motion was made by Commissioner Chris Kirkendall, seconded by Commissioner Young, and was approved.
Earlier in the meeting Marvin Benoit, building official and floodplain administrator for the City of Orange, presented information on the Flood Gauge Project; that presentation was listed as "presentation only" on the agenda and required no court action.
The approvals allow the county to proceed with amended architectural services and the specified construction change order; the court recorded motions and votes for each action.
