The Select Board opened a public hearing on proposed amendments to Article 58 (Salary Administration Plan) and reviewed draft job descriptions and classification changes intended to reflect an expanded role for the Planning Department and evolving departmental responsibilities.
Town Manager Matt Hanson presented proposed changes including: creation of a Maintenance Supervisor position in the library; adding a Community Planning Administrator title (retitling Administrative Assistant I) and a Community Planning & Sustainability Manager (retitling Assistant Planner) to reflect added responsibilities in sustainability, climate initiatives and community engagement; and clarifying social-worker classifications by adding a Licensed Social Worker title and renaming the unlicensed position.
Board members asked for clarification on which department would take lead responsibility for Energy and Sustainability work and on grant‑lead roles; Hanson said multiple departments would participate with the Town Manager bearing primary responsibility for coordination, and noted that most grants are municipal with public‑private partnerships assigned to Economic Development when appropriate. Energy and Sustainability Committee Chair Patricia Fabian requested committee representation at planning meetings whenever sustainability topics are discussed.
The Select Board closed the public hearing; no final vote on the bylaw amendment was recorded at this meeting.
