Worth County supervisors close annexation hearing and approve Drainage District No. 1 report

The Worth County Board of Supervisors closed a public annexation hearing and unanimously approved an annexation report for Drainage District No. 1 on Feb. 2 at the Worth County courthouse.
Chairperson Enos Loberg opened the session at 9:30 a.m. CST and confirmed a quorum of supervisors. AgriVia engineer Jacob Hagan told the board the meeting was a continuation of prior annexation proceedings and summarized remaining landowner concerns.
Hagan said landowner Brenda Tenold-Moretz had raised uncertainty about where her water drains. Because tile maps were not available, Hagan recommended that Tenold-Moretz's property remain in the drainage district for now. Hagan also described a prior concern from a landowner identified only as Helgeson and recommended leaving that property in the district as well; Hagan said that if Helgeson installs tile in the future, the district could reduce that parcel's assessment to the minimum.
With no questions from attendees, Chairperson Loberg asked for a motion to close the public hearing. Supervisor Mark Smeby moved to close the hearing; A.J. Stone seconded. The board recorded a roll-call vote with Supervisors Smeby, Stone and Loberg voting yea; the public hearing was closed and the meeting reconvened.
The board then voted to accept the engineer's annexation report. A motion to approve the report was made by A.J. Stone and seconded by Mark Smeby; a roll-call vote was unanimous in favor and the motion carried.
The hearing was adjourned at 9:35 a.m., and Chesley Doty, drainage clerk, attested to the minutes. The transcript lists landowners present and attendees by name but records no further motions, amendments, or requests for follow-up study.
