The Saint Paul City Council unanimously adopted a resolution criticizing recent federal actions that target access to gender-affirming care for youth and praising Minnesota's protections for that care.
Vice President Kim read the resolution into the record, citing an executive order and federal statements she and supporters described as threats to medical providers and patient access. "Gender-affirming care remains legal here in Minnesota," Vice President Kim said. "We will stand with providers and families."
Speakers from OutFront Minnesota and Gender Justice described the local impacts of federal pressure, including a reported pause in prescribing by Children's Minnesota and the anxiety faced by families. Kat Rohn, executive director of OutFront Minnesota, told the council, "This is a statement of where we stand, of what we value." Noah Parrish, communications director at Gender Justice, said the resolution reinforces Minnesota's status as a refuge for trans people and urged continued legal and political support.
Council members offered brief remarks of support and described the resolution as an important reaffirmation of local values and protections. The council voted 6–0 to adopt the resolution and directed staff to forward it to Minnesota's congressional delegation.
What happens next: the resolution will be distributed to members of the Minnesota congressional delegation and retained as an official statement of the council's position.
