During reports at the Feb. 18 meeting, the Mayor said she met with Sunrise engineers and toured town roads; engineers recommended a chip-seal or thin asphalt overlay rather than a simple seal coat. A vendor quote for the work was reported in the meeting; the meeting transcript shows "$580,000K," which appears to be a typographical error and is reported here as an estimated $580,000 pending vendor confirmation. The Mayor said the town could reduce costs by performing in-house prep and patching work.
Fire Chief Cameron told the council the department obtained 11 used SCBA packs from Fredonia with roughly three years of service life remaining and is awaiting grant responses to purchase additional equipment. The department will host a pancake breakfast fundraiser on March 28 to raise funds. Cameron said an MOU is being drafted to resume taking Page, Arizona transports in coordination with Arizona partners, and the department is implementing a training-tracking program that will support ISO ratings.
Councilmember Luke McConville also announced discussion about hosting a free 12-week EMT class (final exam required) to recruit local residents; Chief Cameron said the class could be held locally or at the Wahweap Ranger Station.
The council asked for more information on the road quote and tabled the Transportation Master Plan for further questions.
