The Marion County Board of Supervisors on March 10 approved two resolutions to retain outside counsel. Resolution 2026-35 appointed the law offices of Hinders, Updegraff & Franklin PLC as the county’s employment and labor counsel effective immediately, listing a rate of $240 per hour for attorneys Brent L. Hinders and Eric Updegraff. The board said the firm will advise on personnel policies, collective bargaining, discipline, workplace investigations, and related employment-law matters.
Resolution 2026-37 authorized the county to use the same firm for planning and zoning matters on an as-needed basis when outside specialized legal services are in the county’s interest. Both resolutions passed by unanimous vote (Jahner moved; McCombs seconded for one, Jahner moved; McCombs seconded for the other as recorded).
